About Sensing

Converge has a range of embedded and reusable sensors, paired with purpose-built software, that monitor concrete temperature to measure in-situ strength in real time. By knowing exactly when concrete has reached the required strength, contractors can strike formwork earlier, optimise their turnaround times, and use lower-carbon concrete mixes with far greater confidence.

Our current sensor range, Cure, is a scaled and commercially successful product with a growing international customer base. The next chapter involves finalising the updates of our current sensing portfolio to deepen its value to customers. After this, we aim to launch a new generation of concrete sensors from our internal R&D, evolving our breadth of sensing through a range of partner build, whitelabelled, and 3rd party integrated solutions.

The Role

We're looking for a Senior Product Manager to lead Sensing, owning its roadmap, delivery, and commercial performance. You'll set the direction for a portfolio spanning embedded sensors, reusable hardware, and associated software, and be accountable for the delivery and achievement of business goals.

Reporting to the VP of Product, you'll lead a multi-disciplinary team of engineers working closely with your team’s tech lead. You will manage distributed third-party partners to design, prototype, and launch hardware products and work closely with the Operations team who manage partners who produce them.

You'll collaborate with our Novel Sensing R&D team to conceptualise and validate a new generation of sensing, turning early research into products that create real and lasting value for customers. You’ll assess whether to build, buy, or partner to integrate other solutions to expand the breadth of our sensing capabilities and lead the execution and delivery of these plans.

This is a role for someone who thrives at the intersection of hardware and software, who can manage complexity across product, commercial, and partner relationships, and who is energised by the challenge of scaling a product that is already winning in the market.

What You'll Do

Product Ownership

• Own the strategy and direction of the product portfolio, setting a clear vision for where the products need to go and why.

• Continuously evaluate the make vs. partner vs. buy options as the portfolio evolves, and optimise accordingly.

• Set, communicate, and take accountability for OKRs across the portfolio, ensuring your team is aligned and moving towards measurable outcomes.

• Align on strategy and direction with business stakeholders, ensuring technical, commercial, operations, and financial leadership are bought in and supporting your plans.

• Take full accountability for the portfolio’s P&L, driving revenue and margin performance while managing costs across hardware and software.

Product Execution

• Set and execute on the product roadmap, balancing near-term customer and commercial needs with longer-term strategic bets.

• Working closely with your team’s tech lead, translate strategy into clear, well-scoped product initiatives that your engineering team can deliver with confidence and ensure delivery progress.

• Lead the evolution of existing products, improving hardware performance, software experience, and overall value to customers.

• Drive 0-to-1 product development where opportunities demand new products rather than extensions of the existing range.

• Take ownership of hardware/software delivery with your team and 3rd party partners, sequencing and parallelising work to de-risk delivery and speed up time to market.

Partner and Supplier Management

• Form and manage relationships with third-party research & development partners to design, build, and deliver hardware products.

• Define, manage, and continuously improve partner working models with partners to get products to market as quickly and cost-effectively as possible, without compromising on quality.

• Align on designs, specifications, trade-offs, and quality testing with partners. Challenge and manage them effectively to ensure the quality and speed of delivery.

• Drive alignment with external partners on roadmap priorities, delivery timelines, quality standards, and commercial terms.

• Collaborate with our Operations team, who manage supply chain and production partners, on new product introductions and managing product costs and margins.

Team Leadership

• Lead a multi-disciplinary team of hardware and software engineers, working closely with the tech lead for the team, fostering a culture of craft, collaboration, and accountability.

• Provide clear direction and context to enable the team to do their best work, even in a matrixed structure where functional line management sits elsewhere.

• Work effectively across disciplines, both in-house and through partners and contractors, from firmware and electronics through to cloud software and UX, understanding enough of each to make good decisions and support your team.
  

Requirements:

• Proven experience leading combination hardware / software products end-to-end, from concept through to commercial launch and in-market scaling.

• Experience managing delivery of hardware products with 3rd party partners with a track record of getting the most out of outsourced manufacturing or development partners to bring these products to market.

• Technical familiarity with how embedded systems, sensor hardware, IoT products, or other integrated hardware/software solutions work.

• Strong product instincts, able to synthesise customer insight, commercial context, and technical constraints into clear decisions and a coherent roadmap.

• Experience leading or closely directing multi-disciplinary engineering teams spanning both hardware and software.

• Comfortable operating across the full product lifecycle, including both 0-to-1 development and the scaling and evolution of established products.

• Clear, confident communicator who can align stakeholders across technical, commercial, and leadership contexts.
